We’re planning on one small suitcase and one backpack. Shoes are the biggest problem! And anything we purchase along the way will get shipped home.

I think a major factor with world trips is how many different types of climates you will be in. It is when you’re packing for the tropics and below zero climates in one suitcase that things can get tricky.

Friends who have done round-world trips recently swear by sending clothes home as you go (which works especially well if you visit colder climates first) rather than ending up with excess baggage fees.
